Since September 1, 2023, the obligation to provide advance notifications to Finnpilot\u2019s Pilot Dispatch Centre has been mandated by the Pilotage Act and the regulations issued by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom. Finnpilot\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/finnpilot.fi\/en\/for-customers\/service-terms-for-pilotage\/\">Terms of Service<\/a> have also been updated to align with these requirements.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/finnpilot.fi\/en\/new-pilotage-act-requires-advance-information-to-be-provided-to-the-pilot-dispatch-centre\/\">See a previos post on our web page in October 2023 &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>These regular reports aim to raise awareness of how well advance notifications are being provided and to increase transparency around this issue.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Why is timely advance information important?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Providing accurate and timely advance information helps to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>avoid unnecessary transport, thereby reducing both costs and emissions<\/li>\n<li>ensure pilots and coxswains receive their legally mandated rest periods<\/li>\n<li>help ensure pilot availability at the requested time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently, only about 25% of pilotage orders include advance notifications in accordance with the Terms of Service. Our goal is to significantly improve this rate.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What does the company-specific TOS report include?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Reports will be sent on the 5th day of each month and will cover data from the previous month. Each report consists of two separate parts, delivered as individual email attachments via the Power BI service:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A summary of the previous month\u2019s activity (types of advance notifications, ports, vessel-specific details, and long-term trends)<\/li>\n<li>A pilotage-by-pilotage breakdown showing the compliance rate for each individual pilotage<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>How can I receive the report for my company?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The report is intended for those responsible for ship clearance or related roles. Please ensure you are authorized to order the report on behalf of your company. If not, kindly forward this message to the appropriate person. This collaboration provided valuable insights into advance notification practices, and the development work will continue in the autumn. The brochure is intended for use by vessels and agents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>You can order printed copies of the brochure from Finnpilot for your own use or to distribute to your customers.
